Giving proper care of your wigs, bundles or closures is important in keeping your hair clean and in good condition. We will hereafter refer hair as any hair product(s) you purchase from us. The hair you purchased from us is real human hair, like the hair on your head.
For bundles, we recommend you using a good quality weft sealant. After your install, brush your hair out thoroughly to remove loose hairs.
Here is a general guideline on how to maintain your human hair products.
General Maintenance
There is no specific frequency for washing your hair products. Your wigs, closures or bundles may become oily, when they are exposed to the natural oils on your scalp. For a general guideline, your human hair product(s) should be cleaned and washed about once or twice a week when they are used daily, especially if you do a lot of curling and use a lot of hairsprays. Adjust the frequency of cleaning your hair according to your everyday activity. When your wig(s) are not used, your wig(s) should be stored on a wig stand.
How to Comb Your Hair
When combing your straight hair, always start at the hair ends and work your way up. Use a wig comb or a wide-tooth comb with rounded ends to comb the hair (to remove any tangles if there are any). For curly hair, do not brush or comb hair when dry, it will cause hair to frizz and may cause hair to tangle.
Before Washing Your Hair Piece
We recommend combing your straight wig or hair piece and putting it on a wig stand before washing it. Do not pin the lace or the weft on the stand.
Wash Your Wig or Hair Piece
Washing your hair will clean your hair and dissolve any styling product build up left in the hair. Hold your wig or hair piece under running, lukewarm water from the roots. Take a small amount of shampoo and gently rub in from the bottom to the top. Then, rinse the shampoo thoroughly under running water until no shampoo residue is left. Do not rub, squeeze or comb the roots of the hair (where they are attached to a lace or a wig cap). This will cause root damage. Next, apply a moisture rich conditioner, starting with the ends working your way up. Do not apply the conditioner to the roots as it may cause to fall out. The conditioner helps detangle and make the hair soft, silky and easy to brush. Rinse your wig or hairpiece again thoroughly under running water and dry it carefully with a towel. Lay your wig or hair piece onto a towel and fold the towel over to the hair piece like an envelope, to remove excess water. Then, air dry the hair. For deep wave and curly hair, apply a dime size of an anti-frizz alcohol free hair serum when it is still damp. For soft kinks, a curl cream may be required. For a more tamed look, let the hair air-dry. Scrunch hair gently to enhance the curls while your hair is still wet.
Avoid Oil-Based Hair Products
Hairspray and gel may cause your wig or hair piece oily. They will also cause product build-up in the hair. Oil products or excessive hair products on curly hair will cause matting. We recommend using moisture additive products, for example, a leave-in, spray-on conditioner. These products help keep your hair lasting longer; and minimize breakage and tangling.
How to Store Your Hair Piece
We recommend storing your wigs, bundles or closures properly when you are not using the hair products. We also recommend that you take off your wigs before going to sleep. Please do not expose them to direct sunlight, as sunlight will fade the hair color away and dry your hair out. Make sure your wigs or hair pieces are completely dry before storing them away. Store your wig(s) on a wig stand, if possible. You can also store your dry wigs, bundles, or closures into the original packaging. You may use a plastic container to store your hair away, too. Store your wigs or hair pieces to a dry, cool area.
